firefighter procession

I think I was the last car permitted on to the 210 freeway at the Pennsylvania ramp yesterday right before the funeral procession for one of the firefighters who fought the Station Fire. Firefighters were lined on the 3 overpasses in La Crescenta. Had to draw this later from memory.

High fire danger

I painted this a few weeks ago, before I was slammed with freelance work. I'm unable to post a weather entry, but the heading reads "high fire danger" which is obvious. This watercolor is not near as big a fire as the one currently happening near me. The 210 freeway out back is still shutdown. Watercolor on Arches.
Image 7x7".

Postcard for Brewery

This is a postcard being sent to the I-5 Gallery fundraiser down at the Brewery. There should be alot of great little pieces of art available there - all for $100/each....

Have too much freelance work to keep weather journal the past couple of weeks. All I am painting are fire fighters and birthday cards.

New firefighter watercolor

I'm really sad about the griffith park fire. This is a newish watercolor of the previous hollywood hills fire (near Barham).

melting ice and fire danger

All last week I was drawing bubbles and ripples in water for EFX for a movie and I think that I'm finished with them. It would have been more appropriate to draw ice dripping for this weather page. But I'm not really illustrating the days.... although it seems like that for todays entry. Can't ever resist a firefighting page.

Page from weather sketchbook

This is from the weather sketchbook. The next painting is basically the same image but on better paper. (Arches) The last two pieces are watercolor, 7x7" on Arches. The bigger airplane is actually a converted jumbo jet (DC-10 tanker) which can drop 12,000 gallons in a single load. In this case, it's dropping fire retardant. It has finally rained, so enough of the fire images. There's more fire fighting in my October 2006 file.

More from firefighter series

These are the watercolors 7x7" that are still available. The charcoal is smaller 5x5". This series is from last autumn, and I'll be starting a new firefighter series eventually, but have alot of paintings waiting to be made before that. I would love to trade a painting to someone who would organize all my different series into some sort of web site. Meanwhile, the only reason I'm posting these is for the person who inquired.....
