Onions and Ocean sunset

No I was not amongst the lucky to see Paul but I did get to go to the farmers market to buy onions, eggplant, peaches and cherries. AND COFFEE.

  1. Such beautiful onions! Your work is such a joy and you make it look effortless somehow.

  2. I'm curious about the size of the gorgeous sunset--is this a sketchbook painting or larger? I like the square format and feel completely drawn into the picture. The perspective in the clouds is perfect and everything looks so loose and yet so believable.

  3. Thank you both for the comments! I completely forgot about putting the technical info on the sunset Jana, thanks for reminding me.
It's watercolor on 90lb. Arches Cold Press. 7x7".
I like the square format too. it's the same size as most of my firefighter paintings.
My favorite premade "bought" sketchbook is square too. It's an Aquabee super deluxe. Neutral pH 9x9" wirebound sketchbook. Not really watercolor paper, but nice for light washes.
I only learned officially about cloud perspective a couple of years ago on a Disney job. I never really paid too much attention to that before. It's interesting to learn the rules.......
